Has anybody fitted 195/55/15 Goodyear eagle F1 or Bridgestone S-02 Pole position tyres or 195/60-15 Eagle F1s to std 15x5.5" MINI alloy wheels? Both sizes are within the radius change but I need to know if they fit before selling my 16" wheels !

regards

They will both fit, but was told that the 195/55/15 were a bit short on both diameter and load capacity.

Hmm

I keep getting differring advice on this!!! Just contacted two tyre dealers and as before some tyre dealers say no problem some say it may look stretched (with a beer belly sidewall). I tend to err on the side of someone not wanting to sell a more expensive product but what is the experience of fitting these tyres - do they sit well and not roll when cornering?

regards

I put Pirelli P6 195/60/15s on the standard 15" wheels about 3 weeks ago.

They fit fine and they perform very well, much better than the original P3000s.

Ended up listening to the advice at PROTYRES and fitted 185/65/15 Eagle NCT 5 - still better than the standard fit tyres. I will also be interested to see the pictures as the 185's look pretty big onthose wheels to me!

Topper thanks Mike

Oh, and could you drive around Waterford occasionally so my dad can see what a MINI looks like in the metal

Never mind letting him see one, send me his address and I'll take him for a ride.

The load index is the tire size's assigned numerical value used to compare relative load carrying capabilities. A tire with a lower load index than the OEM indicates that the tire does not equal the load capacity of the original.

United-Kingdom performance change with larger tyres?

thanks for your very useful information on larger tyres mike. i have just received a quote for 4 new s spoke wheels and tyres for my late 2002 cooper and have been totally outpriced, so am now thinking of fitting larger tyres to my 15" wheels (exactly the same as yours). a couple of questions to answer if you dont mind - do these tyres alter the cars performance depreciatively? and do they feel too big for the 15" wheels ie does the tyre move on the rim more?
any help, including prices will be greatly appreciated.

many thanks
jair franz
