WOW! Yes your right, i clicked the link and i could not believe my eyes. Maybe it's snowing in Poland and Germany?? that's a price rise of almost £30 or 60%. Shocking! no excuse really.

I've just bought another pair of 215/40/17 Winguard Sports (so i can fit them all round this winter rather than just on the front like last year - not a good idea!) and they were £2.45 each cheaper than 12 moths ago.... which was nice

WINTER TIRE QUESTION:
Current Situation -- 2012 Mini Cooper "S", w/17" Alum Alloys -- Planning to buy steel rims and put on snow tires. .

QUESTION: Will 15" after-market steel rims fit based on the size of the Mini "S" front calipers ?

my cms all4 w/ sport suspension and sport package came with 225/45-18 pirelli p7 cinturato rf summer tires

knowing i would need some winter tires, i started my search early

i ended up with mini OEM 16" X 6.5" ET:46, R123 Alloy 5 Hole Circular Spoke Wheel (5x120) in Silver, and as they are mini oem rims, no centering rings are needed (sourced from ECS Tuning)

for tires, i went with 205/70R-16 Dunlop Grandtrek SJ purchased from Alex @ tirerack ($91 ea +$46 frt for the set + $196 for TPMS senders)

the 205/70-16 tire was the largest tire that fit with no rubbing, based on testing by mounting used tires at my friendly local independant tire store, a 205/75-16 fit except for minor rubbing at full lock in front

the stock tires are 25.9" OD and the winters are 27.3" OD







the speedo was reporting my speed 1.9 mph higher than actual with the summer tires and it is .6 mph lower than actual with the winters (GPS speed checked from 20 mph to 100 mph)
