Removing Scratches on Alloys

What is the best way to remove tiny hairline scratches on alloy wheels? Thanks.

3M Scratch Remover is excellent. Much better than Meguiar's ScratchX or anything else I've tried. Comes in a small bottle and is easy to find at a Pep Boys, etc.

Use moderate to hard pressure with your finger to work it in until the mixture suddenly feels greasy. That's the breakdown point of the abrasive. Wipe with a cloth. Repeast as necessary.

Yes, any painted surface. A friend of mine got a 2 foot long scratch while on a group drive, I think it was from a bush or branch. It looked liked a repaint job, and I felt terrible for him.

But he used this 3M stuff, and the next time I saw him I could absolutely not detect where the seemingly deep scratch had been. He said he left a small speck of defect just as a reminder, but we couldn't even find that!
