Talking I like wide rims, can 17" or 18"x9" wheels fit?

All the wheels i see people on here buying are only 7-7.5" wide. I come from the old skool watercooled VW world and REALLY like the look of a wode rim on a car with a big lip on it. I will have kw coilovers, so i will be able to adj the height on the car. But i was wondering if the rim would be able to fit within the flairs if i had the correct offset. I don't want the rims to be sticking out of the side of the car. I need the wide rims because i think the mini looks wimpy from behind with the 7" wide s-lite wheels that i have now. Andbodu have any more info on this? and please, don't give me a link to the FAQ or tell me to do a search, i've already read it or done it...

I have to suggest what you didn't want... do some searches and see what others are doing in the wheel offset and rubber department. I can say it might work with the correct offset, but it severely limits your choices in tire selection (what that exactly is I dunno, I run x7s to save the headaches for the office). IMO, look in to what the Hamann 17" and 18" run, and copy similar specs. Anything wider than them, you'll be hardpressed to fit.

What wheels do you have? and what is the offset? I might end up with 7.5" wheels as HP motoring is giving me a really good deal on them...
