questions regarding trims+tyre choices

Right, I’m considering buying some aftermarket alloys and tyres for my MO and I have a few questions.

1. When choosing alloys what offsets etc do I need to have so I can fit my new wheels without damaging my arches + brake discs etc in the long term? I've heard of wheels being fitted and causing problems such as warped discs... My dealer is also moaning whenever I mentioned aftermarket nonBMW alloys !

2. When fitting aftermarket wheels what do I need to consider in terms of the pressure sensors on my factory-fitted alloys?
