Lightbulb Please Help Me Pick A Tyre!!!! I Need Help !!!!!anybody???

So I need some help. I HATE my Dunlop Run Flats. I feel they take away from the car. My ride is rough.

I need some feedback. What shall I choose? I am leaving this up to the good people of this Mini2 forum to point me in the right direction!!!! I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TIRES/TYRES AND WANT TO LEARN!!!!!!!

1.Somewhat inexpensive
2.Want a better ride
3.Need all season
4.Want the car to handle better

Look at the Kumho and Yokohama tires at www.tirerack.com in the 205/50/16 size. They are in the $80 range and are good for rain and dry. Unless you plan on driving in the snow, any of the summer tires with big rain sipes should be fine. The size should not allow any possibility of rubbing with the stock wheels. All these tires are going to be 4 or 5 lbs. lighter than runflats. Get a ride in another MINI with aftermarket tires to see about the ride...that's just too subjective too really tell...but all will ride better than the Dunlops.

Cooper S Red/White/White, Air, Computer, Cloth, DSC, Cold Weather. August build.

Goodyear F1 GS-D3 205/50X16 is a great all round tyre.

As previously mentioned, TireRack have a good selection in this size.

Regards

Tim

The mentioned 205/50-16 tires are shorter than OEM. You need to be aware of the effects that will have.

I'm running Goodrich Traction T/As in 215/50-16. Same diameter as stock. Around $120 a tire though.

Thats pricy. I heard it costs more for changing out run flats to other tires. Is that true. I would do the 120.00 a tire-It's an investment-but whats it cost to put them on-I am female-They can hear me coming from a mile away-they love to charge us more. I hate being screwed over. I want to seem like I know what I'm talking about and know what I should be paying for installation!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you have your run flats changed out, use a shop which has been certified for run flat tire servicing:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...#faq_faq_wheel

205/50-16 is the most common tire replacement fitment, and is actually very close in overall diameter to that of the OEM 15" wheel set-up using 175/65-15 tires.

Your choices in high performance all-season tires for 16" wheels is somewhat limited:

205/50-16 Pirelli PZero Nero M&S ($136 @ 1010tires)
205/50-16 Toyo Proxes 4 (110 @ 1010tires)
205/50-16 BFGoodrich Traction T/A ($94 @ TireRack)
205/50-16 Falken Ziex ZE-512 ($93 @ 1010tires)
205/50-16 Kumho ECSTA ASX ($86 @ TireRack)

The Toyo, Pirelli and Kumho are classified as Ultra High Performance All-Season and the BFGoodrich and Falken as High Performance All-Season.

The Toyo Proxes 4 is fairly new tire which is getting good reviews, and the Kumho ECSTA ASX is brand new with few reviews.
