those fronts need replacing

Just as i had managed to save up enough for the BBR 220 I notice my front tyres are getting very low round the outside.. New tyre time (15k miles). Rears still look good as new so its just the two I need.

Questions from the amature tyre guy....

Run flats - expensive I hear. £130 a pop lets say? I have never had a flat in my life. Not bad in 11 years of driving. I figure it will happen one day but when it does, unless its a blow out how far can you travel on normal tyres? I read some of you carry an air pump and hope for the best. What if you were 30 miles away from a tyre shop? stop every few miles?

If I were to not get run flats will I cause any major probs having different fronts to rears?

Should I say screw the BBR and replace my rather tatty 17 inch s-spokes for some smaller rims with new tyres all round?

Squeeling like hell at the mo - need to do something. whats the normal approach when it comes to replacement?

Appreciate these type of questions pop up regularly. I really dont know what i want though, most of you would have been through the tyre replacement decision at some point with your MCS' hopefully you may help me to make a decision on this one..

Thanks
Nick

Tires keep you on the road. Which in turn keps you alive. That's a good thing.
So I'd say get the tires. All 4.

Do what I did. Get some good 16" wheels and tryes off here or e-bay, then sell your runflats and 17s. You'll be quids in, and experiencing a more pleasurable journey!

Plus, the 220 and 16" wheels make for much entertainment!

I ditched run flats when I had to change the fronts, ands I'll be doing the same to the rears when they're due for replacement. I carry a can of tyre-weld & compressor, just i case.

I got Pirelli Asymetrico (speelling? ), at about £120 each, as run flats were £160 each.

Either way, tyres first, BBR later.
