Run Flat Tire Choices

In the US the following 16" and 17" summer (performance) and all-season run flat tire choices are available:

195/55-R16 Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 EMT (summer)
195/55-R16 Dunlop SP Sport 3000 DSST (all-season)

205/45-R17 Pirelli Euforia (summer)
205/45-R17 Goodyear Eagle RS-A EMT (all-season)

How about the rest of the World?

Im pretty sure the two 17" tyres are the same as I have seen, the MINI they have got at my dealer in the showroom at the moment has got Goodyear's but the one previous to that had Pirelli's. I don't think as far as im aware we get a choice in the UK they just arrive and we get what we get.

Although I had noticed that like you the tread pattern on the Pirelli's seamed more like a performance tyre I was unaware that the two mentioned types were different in terms of performance. I have recently sold my BMW with Goodyear Eagle F1's all round and was both impressed with the minimal wear (on the car for 4 months previous to selling) and the excellent grip/road holding performance.

Would I be right in thinking if the Pirelli's are summer tyres and the Goodyears are all-seasons the Pirelli's will be of a softer compound therfore wearing out quicker?

I would say you're right.
