Hi
Our
MCS is arriving in winter and I need help on tyres.
By then we will have also moved to the ar*e end of Yorkshire in the country.
The trek to work is about 10 miles on poxy roads up on the moors.
It will snow a lot and also be prone to black ice.
However most of the time it will be fine and/or raining with no snow, I want the tyre for the 10% or so of the time my wife has to get safely back from work on her own - I accept this may sound patronising.......
I have a feeling a lill bitty
MCS on fat 17" rims is not going to have a lot of grip in snow/slush/ice thus I am considering a set of winter tyres and rims.
Obviously this is for a UK winter which is not the same as a Canadian winter

I have also read the faq butthis seems more geared to the Cannuck scene.
Questions:
1) Which tyre would fit the bill? Theres masses of choice, I just want a 2-3 month winter tyre rather than a dedicated mud and snow one.
2) What size rims/tyres would you rec on a
MCS?
Thanks very much
