18" wheels on Mini look silly?

Grrr had a rather interesting debate at work today when some colleges saw my car for the first time and said how silly my wheels looked, and that they are too big for a mini??

whats the genral opinion on minis with 18" wheels? am i in a minority?

i personally like cars with larger wheels at the end of the day the rolling radias is the same just the amount of rubber is less..

Really got my goat, apparently looks like a big truck!, nothing like a mini, ruined the appearence of mini and oh and i have a girly colour car too! basically backed me into a corner...

I absolutley love my car and the look, Looking at you guys for support here!

all this comming from a 92 passat driver and a fellow mini driver?? whats going on?

The Alpina rims look very classy and the colour is fantastic.
Don't let anyone put you off the things you like about your own mini. IMO and many others I'm sure, your car looks very cool and individual. However it is yours and it's what you like that matters most.

at the end of the day i suppose the world would be a very boring place if we all liked the same things.

They just gotta chose their words wisely... and not insult you.. .Its ok to have told you that they look too big but what they said was over the top... Somtimes they need to think before they speak...

Sounds to me like someone is just trying to wind you up - You car looks spot on, who knows best - a company like Mini/BMW that has spent millions on the design of the Mini and alloy wheel styles for the car - or some guy that says your car looks like a truck doh!
You could tell us what cars the people criticising your car have and then we will pick all the faults with them - I'm sure there will be more faults than there are to the Mini.

Nothing at all wrong with the size of your wheels and I personally love the color (not at all too girly for me, but then again, I am afraid of spiders).

Those coworkers sound like a real admirable bunch, I hope they've got super kick ass rides to go with those charming personalities.

its wierd with wheels, cos in a few years, i bet 18s wont be all that and well be on 19s. i remember my first car, a nova, had 16s, and they looked massive! yet they look pretty small on a MINI!!! like a focus, 18s dont look huge, but on say a old escort, they looked well to big! yet now on a MIINI they look just right.
