2 x runflats 2 x normal tyres... problem?

hi guys,

unfortunately one of my newish toyo tyres has got a severe puncture and one of the others has a slow puncture. they are both on the back.

i have temporarily put 2 of my old alloys back on the rear. (17" s spokes with runflats) - yes it looks totally stoopid i know!!

the fronts are 17" different alloys with toyo tyres.

i am going to get the runflats transferred over to my current alloys tomorrow but will there be any problems running with the runflats on the back on normal tyres on the front - apart from the obvious difference in ride?

thanks

jas

I ran the tyres like that with no problems but i did it the other way around.I had my Pirelli Euphoria runflats on the front and my non runflat Bridgestone Potenzas on the back.Firstly i figured that if i did get a severe puncture that i was better with the runflats on the steering wheels(no...not the steering wheel)Then I saw a post where someone suggested that you may get oversteer with the less grippy stronger walled runflats on the back and the grippy non runflats on the front which sort of made sense. So i figured (rightly or wrongly)that if the grippy tyres were on the back and the less grippy tyres were on the front i might end up with a little understeer which is the slightly safer option of the two.It did seem to understeer a little more but whether that was fact or my over active imagination i can't say.All i will say was in general i didn't really notice much of a difference and certainly nothing felt unpredictable or dangerous.I now have Potenzas allround. If this doesn't make much sense i do apologise..... but you know when something sounds okay in yer head..................

I wouldn't drive it hard though.
Handling will be unbalanced.

Jason,

I'v had no probs with run flats on the front and Toyos on the back (want to wear the run flats then get them replaced with more Toyos).

Simon.
