help please... i'm wanting to put these rims onto my 2004 mini cooper, but i don't exactly know how anything works like where to purchase, how to install, and things like that... the pic i've included has both the silver and white rims, but i want the silver ones...
also, i've done a search here at mini2 on rims, but they don't quite help me because they seem so complicated, so could someone please brief me in simple terms? AND what's the deal with the "run-flats" because that means absolutely nothing to me...
well i'll greatly appreciate it if anyone is able to help me out and point me in the right direction... thanks
The wheels pictured are actually R84 wheels (another MINIUSA website error ) and are available from any dealer.
Are you having difficulty using the search or finding specific info
Run-flat tires have stiff sidewalls and will allow you to travel about 80 miles at 50 MPH with no air in your tires. These are standard equipment on Cooper S models which cannot be fitted with a space saver spare. If you have a space saver spare on your Cooper I recommend fitting conventional tires on the R84 wheels:
ok, so all i'm supposed to do is go to the dealer and ask for the R84 wheels? and they will order it for me and install them for me? and how much would all of this cost, ideally?
Can't give you a ball-park on cost as dealer labor rates vary across the country.
If you have the dealer install wheels and tires they will probably want to mount run-flats which cost more than conventional tires. You need to compare your dealer's quote against what it will cost for a reputable tire shop to mount and balance conventional tires on wheels you buy from your dealer.
I bought a set of new 16" R84 wheels with run-flat tires mounted from an ebay auction.
Bolted them on my Cooper myself.
This will be a much cheaper option than the dealer - expect to pay $400 - $500 plus shipping.
Where are you located? I have a set of those rims with new tires already mounted that I need to sell - I no longer have my MCS. The rims are silver with metal valve stems and are in great shape. The tires are the new version of the BFG Comp TA KDW (dry and wet performance tires) in size 205/50ZR16. Send me a PM.
