Steering Wheel off centre!

Had a couple of tyres fitted to front of My Cooper S. During the change the muppett dropped the wheel and damaged it. In fairness the tyre place have paid for the refurb that I had done yesterday.

Problem now is that the steering wheel is off centre when driving in a straight line (Turned slightly to the left) and there is a slight pull to the left when you let go of the wheel.

Any ideas........

Things to try first are to check that, if they are directional tyres, that they have been put on the right way around and then to get the car's tracking checked.

I really hate it when a car's steering wheel is off centre!

I hate it too.

Have you ever had to have your tracking checked. The wife says she tapped the kerb the day before the wheels were refurbed, the damage was minimal so I guess I believe her but I am worried the tracking may have been knocked but surely it would have needed a lot more force than a tap?????

This not straight steering wheel is really getting on my nerves now!!!!

Have I ever had to have my tracking checked? Oh yes, but not for a while.

About the very best way of knocking the tracking out is by "tapping" a kerb, as it's normally knocked out by a sharp jolt; this is sounding like a prime candidate to me.

Go to a good tyre and exhaust centre and they should be able to do it while you wait.

Tigger.

Hi Iguana
Did you get this sorted yet? My steering wheel is the same as you describe. When I take out the key and lock the steering the wheel is also slightly off to the left - like you say, very annoying .

This was after a KDS alignment was done on the car and a front bearing replaced. Tried speaking to the Tech department, but they started on about road cambres (sic). Considering that this happens even when the car is sitting parked in the garage it all sounds a bit funny to me - .

Got the same problem, and I have brand new 05 MC, it is driving me nuts with the steering slightly off centre to the left when in a straight line. I'm taking it back to the service centre to get it sorted but no doubt it will probably still be there and the service chaps will tell me that its all in my imagination!!!!!
