Widest tire on a 16x6.5 rim ?

My MCSa is coming with the stock wheels. I've been doing some research WAY in advance and the selection available in the stock size (195 / 55) is very limited. The selection in 205 / 45 / 16 is much better. My question is, will a 205 / 45 tire fit safely on a 6.5" rim? Thanks for any and all comments.

205/45-16 will fit but 205/50-16 is the most common replacement size ...

205-45 would be pretty short for the street.
You'll notice a nice difference just going to 205-50s. I run them in auto-x and on the street for fun somtimes. Used to run them on 16x6.5.
I run 215-50s on 6.5s now on the street. Fine if you're not going to poush hard. If you do the sidewalls are a bit more flexy than the 205s

you should also be aware most 205/45 16 tires i have seen have have a load rating of 83 when the minimum load rating recommened is 84... may cause insurance costs to go up
