OK....I've searched NAM and here, including FAQs....and have done the best I could to get a definitive answer..now I'll throw it to those who know better than me...
my car is lowered on Alta springs - 30mm lower.
I want to put 17x7 40mm offset rims on with 215/40/R17 Toyo Proxes T1R.
My personal feeling is that they may rub with a load in the back, but not under normal conditions. Can any of you out there help me?
Vote now....will they or will they not rub on the back?!
yup..but his offset is 48.....a full 8 mm further in from the arches....looks damn low though dosen't he!? Liam's R90 copies are 40mm...but not lowered and on narrower tyres...
In that case, I reckon you'd probably clear it at the front, but if memory serves, Al's wheels are almost under the rear guards, so set them out 8mm and add a bit of load to the rear, and yeah, I spose its possible they could rub?
Some say he loves gaming and that he also loves house work..... All we know is, he's called The ScottyB!
with 4 S-lites in the boot with Pirelli runflats on there...I can barely get my hand under the guard...put some electrical tape in there to see if they rub...on the passenger side, the tape was still intact, but 'just hanging on' - evidence of slight rubbing...
with no crap in the back....there looks to be more space than before on the 205/45's on 50mm offset....
some of the wheels I tried actually looked smaller because the 40 series profile makes 'em look small....
I can see now how people go to 18 inch wheels....
will post pics tomorrow for searchers future reference...
