19" Wheels & Tires

hey everyone! i'm new to this so forgive me if i screw up already!
i just got an 05 mini cooper S. i'm thinking about getting a set of 19 X 8 wheel & 225 X 35 X 19 tires for it.i need to know if it'll be Ok without any major problem. they recommended me to get 215 X 35 tires, but i think it won't look right on an 8" wheel. please let me know. anything will help.

thank you,
ken

Hello.

I've moved your post to the Wheels & Tyres forum for you, where you'll hopefully get some direct advice, but you can also check out the FAQs and "Stickies" at the top of the forum which contain information on various possible (and fitted) wheel and tyre combinations.

Almost forgot (sorry), to say welcome to MINI2.

The odds are that you will have major problems fitting those wheels and tyres. 8" wide wheels only just fit inside the arches when they are 17" or 18" so 19" probably wont fit. Ive got 225/35/18 tyres on my car and they catch on the arches all the time. If you want 19" wheels i suggest you get wheels that are only 7.5" wide and have 215 profile tyres.

Hi Shy Guy

The 19x8 wheels are definitely going to be too wide
I have attached a pic of my MCS fitted with 19x7" wheels & Eibach springs, the 19's are offset 45, they do touch slightly over large bumps, and only on the rear due mainly to the taller tyre 215/35/19, but no other tyre options were available at the time, these are about 17mm taller than factory 205/45/17's, if you don't lower the car you shouldn't have any problems with this size.
