Wales Non Runflats

Guys

Just got rid of the 17" Dunlop runflats today. I had no problems with Grip, very good but the ride was very poor. Decided to change to Kumho SPT (KU31). what a difference in ride quality. Also a nice looking tyre
Due to not having a spare I bought a toolkit with built-in compressor and sealant of Ebay, well chuffed with that. As for the tyres seemed to grip as well as the Dunlops but i will update my findings after a couple of weeks

Regards the nuke

I've been wondering why everyone was anti-runflats. Thought it was just the cost of replacing them, didn't realise they affected the ride quality and possibly traction.

Good idea about a remidy to the lack of spare wheel

Velvet Cooper run flat or non run flat?

Very interesting. I have 17 inch S spokes with run flats. They are dreadful. Harsh, no feel and not convinced by the wet grip.

All 4 are up for replacement and I wanted to change for 'normal' tyres and go for the compressor / mouse in the boot option. I asked the mini salesman if I could fit normal tyres to the wheels when I ordered the car. He said I could. A few weeks ago the BMW technician said I couldn't. Needless to say I was a bit upset!

Am I right in thinking I can fit normal (non run flat) tyres to my wheels? It looks like you others have.

Moral of the story - Peugeot aren't the only company to employ muppets as technicians.

Replaced my Dunlop 9000 Sport 205/45/R17 runflats with Toyo Proxy TR-1's on my S-Spokes this week, so that is a 'YES' to your question- the S-Spoke can take a non-flat tyre.

I have only had them on for only a few days but I have noticed that the steering is alot lighter and the ride is improved, although with the Dunlops I was running them at 2.4 bar rather than 2.1bar, which is what I should have been running them at, given that I usually have a max of 2 people in the car at any one time. Either way I am happy with my change and I feel more confident in the wet with these tyres!

Personally, I prefer the runflats. I know the ride is much harder, but I like the security of knowing I can still get home when I get a puncture at 3am in the middle of winter without having to faf around in the cold and the snow! Since changing the handling has become much lighter but the car seems to roll more and feels very skittish when cornering. True they look much better but I think I would prefer to have my run flats back Am loving the look though!

enough times for me to buy run flats again. If you are worried about the cost of run flats then try Kumho KU31 RFlats (can be got for about £88 each)

Just bought 2 x Toyo T-1Rs from www.camskill.co.uk to be delivered on Tuesday in preparation for my upcoming trackday on the 2nd & 3rd September at RAF Marham. Can't wait!
My local garage had a 2 month wait for the Toyos!

Pffffffffffft Runflats

Bin them, I got Eagle F1's on the back and Bridgestone something or others on the front. Both of which I'm very happy with.

Don't bother with Pirreli P-zero's they wear out too quickly
