Offline | Eibach Lowering Spring Pics Hi All, a newbie here! Just picked up my new MCS a week ago and already looking to do some mods on her. Just a question on the Eibach springs. How much exactly do these lower the car by? Been reading up from other members that this might cause additional tire wear, is this right? Would love to see some pics of how much it lower's the car when fitted. Thanks! |

Offline | Hi I get mixed messages. IMHO what I was told is that the Eibachs lower the MCS 20mm with the SS+ suspension, where the MC on SS lowers about 30mm. It depends who you talk to, but with my webspokes it looks good regardless. I also had fitted by dealer, the ride feels a little harsher, but hard to compare as not had mini prior, but the looks are great. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I also measured the distance from ground level to the underside of my guards after the Eibahcs were fitted, just a shame I didn't do this beforehand with my stock suspension to compare. Remember I'm running 205/45/17s. ![]() Last edited by minigolf : Sep 17th, 2005 at 07:38 AM. |

Offline | YOU ARE THE MAN! Sorry for the humor. THis is exactly what I was looking for (the pictures). I'm on my way to get some eibachs fitted myself today. Noticed any real changes in handling? Also I suppose the stock shocks can handle the new spring rates? Hate to drive down 5K miles along and bounce around like a boat in the ocean. |

| "Buying and selling" | Yes the turn-in is fantastic . Steering feels even more responsive than before and with plenty of grip, no tyre squel at all unless you relly push the limits of the car which ive never done!Cr@p on bumpy roads tho im on 40 profile tyres so that cant help! ![]() 2001 cooper (sold) ![]() 1995 Supra RZ-S TT auto in white. |

Online | the best decision you will make is adding some Eibachs, I was lucky to get a fantastic deal on mine, the handling was just fantastic. The looks improved tremendously, I would reccomend them any time. My current car has some H&R's but I miss the Eibachs ![]() look forward to some pics once you get them, you won't have any regrets apart from the ride being a little harsher, the handling suffices that ![]() Good luck!!! Does my @rse look big in this broom broom |

Offline | Some more comparo pics. Interestingly, if you look at the pics in post #6 my rears seem to be sitting higher now than they were after installation. Odd! ![]() These pics were all taken today, 2 October 2006, around a year after I had my springs fitted. I've rounded the figures to the nearest 5mm as these images can only ever be a guide anyway. Both cars are running 205/45/17 tyres. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I'm running 18's with Apex springs and i get no rubbing at all, even with 2 kids in the back. It does depend a lot on the offset of your wheels. I stuck to ET45 with my BKracing wheels which is quite a safe offset to go for. Anything less than 45 then don't be surprised if you experience rubbing, particlarly if you are running lowered springs aswell. Also, to be safe, run 215/35/18 tyres. Follow my instructions and you should be fine..iam !Rob |

Offline | The offset of your rims will probably have quite a lot to do with whether your car will rub on Eibachs or not. My guess is any OEM rim would be okay, as they tend to sit inside the guards quite comfortably. Aftermarket rims may be different. |

Offline | Eibach claim 25-30mm drop on thier normal ones (earlier sets were 15-20mm) MINIsport do a set made for them by eibach which drop by 20mm instead of the normal eibach 30mm Depends from car to car, as bushes on some cars can collapse more than others under the stiffer spring, so make the car lower (this is especially true on the rear lower shock susp arm bush). I have seen this on several cars, including mine. However only seen a total collapse on 1 car. But wear on those, rear bushes especially, can make the car sit lower, although they often last for 000's miles (Mine have) I have KW -35mm fitted and do get some additional inner edge wear on the tyres. but thats because my toe out is fairly prominant.... however the wear was not enough to force me to change my tyres earlier than I would have needed to. The whole tread dropped below 3mm well before enough of the inner edge was worn away. |
