2015 MINI Paceman JCW Detailed in Mega Gallery
Jul 07, 2014 - 6:00 PM - by

The 2015 MINI Paceman debuted earlier this year, but now we have our first detailed look at the high-performance John Cooper Works variant.

The British automaker has released over 150 new photos detailing the 2015 MINI Paceman JCW, which is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 218 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. All models of the 2105 Paceman are launching this month and include the Cooper Paceman, Cooper S Paceman, Cooper D Paceman and Cooper SD Paceman.

The standard Cooper Paceman will come with a naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine providing 122 hp and 118 lb-ft of torque while the more powerful Cooper S Paceman features 190 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.

All models of the 2015 MINI Paceman are available with ALL4 all-wheel drive.

2014 MINI Cooper vs Ford Fiesta 1.0L
Jun 24, 2014 - 2:41 PM - by

Is a turbo three for you?
by Luke Vandezande

Would you buy a car with a three-cylinder engine? Believe it or not, the North American three-cylinder revolution has begun.

Well, sort of… You can get the Ford Fiesta with a three-cylinder in any trim level you want as long as it’s the mid-level SE model with a manual transmission and virtually no options. Otherwise, it’s back to the same old four-cylinder as before.

MINI, on the other hand, is going all in by offering a turbocharged three-cylinder as the only engine in the Cooper Hardtop.

So which company has it right? Are turbocharged three-cylinders really good enough to replace four-cylinders as the engine of choice or is Ford being smart in treating its smallest engine as a niche product for customers who put high mileage above all else?

MINI Superleggera Concept is a Modern Day Classic
May 26, 2014 - 11:44 PM - by

Thought MINI was done with interesting concepts after the Paceman pickup? Think again.

The British automaker has revealed its MINI Superleggera Vision, a one-off roadster that MINI says “elegantly perpetuates what the Classic MINI started 55 years ago: reduction to the essentials.” The handcrafted open-top two-seater is the result of a collaboration between MINI Design and Milan-based coachbuilder Touring Superleggera. High end materials were used throughout the MINI Superleggera Vision, including black chrome and bespoke Italian leather, while the traditional Italian body construction has been paired with an authentic British design.

Boasting hand-shaped aluminum body panels, an electric powertrain and carbon fiber components, the Superleggera Vision packs plenty of technology found in today’s supercars.

The MINI Superleggera Vision will make its official debut this weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este.

“In this car all unnecessary equipment or decoration is sacrificed, as performance is gained through lightness and efficiency of the bodywork and interior,” said Louis de Fabribeckers, Head of Design at Touring Superleggera. “The Italian touch is in the proportions and the typical waistline.”
