When does your car become uneconomic

I have a mini clubman cooper s with jcw kit. And since day one it's a car that keeps taking...for instance vanos valve replaced, new cam cover l,clutch and flywheel. Now timing chain requires some attention so to speak. If I was to include all serviceable parts. Discs pads oil brake fluid, coils. In the 3 yrs I have owned it my pocket has had a beating. But even now I cannot walk away from the car and say enough is enough. Other than a total write off from the insurance will. In total I'm almost shelled out the purchase price of the car on keeping the thing running.

What would it take you the average mini owner to walk away
