Insurance for modified MINI

Looking for an insurance company that will give a good price for insurance on a slightly modified car, wheels, exhaust and lowered. Nothing too crazy. Does anyone know of a good insurance company with a lenient policy on modified cars. I have 1 years no claims and 18 years old. Any advise is appreciated.

With not knowing what country you live in its a tad hard to answer your question with a recommendation for an insurer.

You will need to contact insurance companies and find out what is an allowed modification and then get a quote. The first strike that will be against you is that you have lowered the car and at your age would indicate to any insurer that you a boy racer and a considerable risk along with the wheels and exhaust so good luck.

Insurance companies don't like modifications as they are normally outside of manufacturers designs and unless fall within design limits or are certified by an automotive engineer after inspection are loath to insure modified vehicles.

You need to look for an insurance company that specialises in custom modified cars and at your age and driving experience, good luck with getting one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Yes I do. Knowing I was going to mod my R53 quite a lot I punted around a lot until I found a broker who placed it with an underwriter who is very cool about mods. Don't even flinch about wheels, exhaust and lowering. Really pleased.
