Yet another clutch problem?

I think it may be a clutch problem but need advice plz....
Wife's 04 mini suddenly won't engage gears!
It went all of a sudden, no warning noises, smell, slip or anything, I can depress the pedal and can put it into gear, but when you release the pedal... nothing!!!

No leaks showing, only 36k done but looking at threads that is not uncommon for clutch to go on these things!!!

Looked, but can't find same symptoms listed so hence this thread
Advice required please. Car is stranded on drive and need to know where to tow it
Thanx

No I'm not 100% -any guidance on checking these? How, Where, Can I see the cables? ( I read they were problematic on 02's but not sure if still applicable?)
It certainly feels if its going in... i.e I cant put it in gear until I depress the clutch but then no 'bite' when released
