r53 ****ing coolant

Hi all,

can i ask you my mini has started to **** coolant out, i am not sure where it could be from but it is a lot.

it forms a pool at the front of the engine more or less in the middle.

does anyone knows where it could come from, i need to do loads of work on it but would be nice if i have any ideas before i remove everything.

thank you in advance

Usually it's the thermostat housing. They're plastic and distort over time. But it could also be the waterpump as these are driven off the end of the supercharger and are located pretty central at the front.

It is farely common for the radiators to split on the R50-53.

they split around the bottom corners usually, as corrosion eats away.

Also as siad above thermostat housings and waterpumps can also leak.

Look on end of engine opposite belt, below the mess of hoses for thermostat housing. Also, look below oil filter for oil cooler, have been known to split. Cannister would be obvious.
