I have looked but I cannot see the answer..

Hello All,
I still have the R53 and I am due to either change the back tyres or all 4,
its on 18's Jcw R105 Alloy's with 205/40/18 tyres,
I am wondering if 215/40/18 would fit?
or could I go any bigger without rubbing?

The wheels are;
18"
7J
52 Offset

I know most will say change the RFT for normal, but its not my choice,
so I am looking to do as much as I can while keeping the 18's..

I had 215/45-17's and they rubbed at the rear. There are slight variations in most cars.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Thank you both so far, are there any other comments as this is a little close to call..

215/45/17
Diameter = 24.6"
Width = 8.5"
Sidewall = 3.8"
Circum. = 77.3"
Revs/Mile = 820

215/40/18
Diameter = 24.8" (+0.8%)
Width = 8.5" (+0.0%)
Sidewall = 3.4" (-10.5%)
Circum. = 77.8" (+0.8%)
Revs/Mile = 815 (-5)

I think I will just have to go for it unless anyone else can advise different form history?
