R52 Engine, which one do I have?

Hi Guys,

I'm starting to look for parts various for my Cooper S Cabrio R52 2006.

Whenever viewing parts for the engine I'm always asked which engine I have. 2 variants seem to be possible, a 120 kW and a 125 kW that came later. I have checked using a VIN decoder to find it and that tells me the engine is the W11. Having checked that I am still at a loss, the same 2 options are there. 120 kW or 125 kW.

If anyone knows which engine, or how to tell, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks all and happy motoring,

Jason.

as its 2006 it should have the later coated m45 super charger on it which is higher power

Thanks for replying. Still a bit confused as wiki shows the W11 as being supercharged (120 kW and later 125 kW). Both seem to be the Eaton 45 just no idea which one I have or even if the parts (clutch for e.g.) are the same fitment.

Anyway, thanks again. I'll keep looking.

The Supercharged Tritec engine Minis were produced from 2001 to 2008.
The Hatchback however stopped in 2006. The convertible kept this engine until 2008.
The later cars 2006 onwards for the hatch and 2008 onwards for the convertible used the Peugeot Prince engine
In 2005 the first gen or Supercharged Mini received a facelift, which included, shorter ratio gearbox for faster acceleration, a teflon coating on the charger blades, and power was up from 163bhp to 170bhp. They were also a little lighter, and the lights improved and looked better.

Thanks again mike1967, that's much clearer. I have the Xenon lights and the 2006 so from what you have said I have the later 170hp version. This will help a great deal when ordering parts. Can't thanks you enough.
