My first question here, ive got a r50 2002 project car I'm doing up with my son, we got one of those dash cams that go over the rear mirror that has a reverse cam given to us by a family member who thought it was too complicated to fit <img src="http://img.autoforums.com/site-styles/mini2.com/images/smilies09/yelcutelaughA.gif" border="0" alt="" title="
" class="inlineimg" />. It came with a cig power socket plug and bugger that I'm not using that ugly thing so as it runs from a 5v mini USB I've just hardwired it and it's working fine. My question is tho, the rear camera requires you to splice into the reverse light. I've done this a few times on other cars but 9/10 the reverse light is in the rear light clusters. The R50 mini cooper has a single light in the rear bumper.
I've had a poke about behind the rear clusters and sods law my multi meter has died, money is a bit tight as it's costing me a bomb to get to hospital 5 days a week for chemo so either I wait until I get paid or one of you kind gents or ladies know which wire powers the reverse light when the car is put into reverse.
Its a 2002 mini cooper 1.6
Or if someone knows where I can find a multimeter for a few quid I could prob figure it out myself <img src="http://img.autoforums.com/site-styles/mini2.com/images/smilies09/yelcutelaughA.gif" border="0" alt="" title="
" class="inlineimg" />. I bought the car partly to get me to hospital and partly as a project me and my son can do up together while I'm still physically able to work on the car myself. Then when he passes his test, the car is his.
The car seems in pretty good shape apart from rust considering its age, its actually a year older than my boy 😂
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks 👍🏻😁
