Aftermarket air induction for 88bhp model?

Hi all.

Just thinking (not very seriously at the moment) about a replacement air induction kit. But I'm a little unsure?

Firstly, I have seen a Pipercross kit for the ONE D, but it states that it is for cars between June 03 to September 05 only. Mine is a 2006 model, with the later upgraded hp. So does anyone know if this kit, or another will fit my car?

Secondly, What would be the benefits of such a mod? I know there are various views to the power gains offered by air filters and the like, to be honest I'm not really bothered if I don't get any actual hp gain.

Would I get better sound, like petrols do? My back box has given the car a nice burble and throughty sound (for a diesel anyway!) So I'm looking to improve on that, and maybe get the engine a bit more free-revving?

Any help or pointers would be great.

James.

I know Barry, aka PepperD used to have a MINI diesel with a K&N induction kit fitted, there are threads on the diesel forum talking about this somewhere, i'll try and dig them out. I think the power 'gain' wasn't noticable, but it did make it more roughtier!:p

Some links for you James.......

John Bagley has a K&N, check this out,
