Glow Plugs & Other Mods

Hi,

My car has started to be a bit slow to start up when cold over the last 2/3 weeks so i am looking to change the glow plugs.

What plugs do people recommend?

How easy is this to do yourself?

Think i may have mentioned this in a earlier post, but am thinking about fitting an induction kit and full exhaust back box kit, any suggestions would be welcome?

Once again thanks.

Have completed my profile so peps can have a look, may add some pictures when it has been cleaned.

Daniel

No

They have glow plugs to heat up the cylinder before you actually start the engine = easy start and then Mr Diesels engine cycle takes the strain on its own

In Italy

Hi,

I cant help with the glow plug suggestion, I'm sure someone will advise soon enough. I can maybe help with the back box query though, as I have had one put on my ONE D.

I had the aero kit put on my car, so I had to find a solution in order to fill the recess for the exhaust. I went with a custom back box made by Power Flow exhausts. Cost wise, from memory I think it was around the £150 mark (inc VAT and labour for fitting / fabricating)

Its a stainless steel back box, with a polished 3" slash cut tip. I think for the money it looks pretty good, and it doesn't sound too bad either.

the glow plugs are simple to change yourself, should take no longer than 30 mins to change all four.

Thanks, love the car.

Will get in contact with Power Flow and see what they can do.

Where did you get the aero kit from/fitted?

Thanks, Shes not bad for a D.

I got the aero kit from Woodman's, through the group buy running on this site. I cant remember the exact pricing, but including fitting and the additional aero spoiler, it came in at just over £1000. Chris is the man who organises it all, you wont go wrong dealing with them, always top notch service.

The exhaust was then an extra to get it all looking right. Worth it though.

Any questions, just ask.

James.
