Hello everyone,,
Mini's well Bmw mini that is. Just got a cooper r50 and personally it's a bit slow and more so lacking in grunt until about 4K when it wakes up a bit. Yes youporn.wiki/ xhamster.vip/ redtube.onl/ I know I should have got a cooper s but that's life ha ha. Just after making it a little bit more interesting without spending a real fortune. I'm sure this isn't the first time this has been asked so I'm sure there's loads of ideas out there. I'm quite handy with a spanner so no worries there but not really looking at modifying the engine as want to keep it reliable for every day use. Cheers.

trade it in for cooper s, or could put after market super charger in it will need bigger output injectors i've done a few over the years honda type r was the best effect one, also good on the mazda mx5. but a lot of money and to be honest better just buying one all done. trouble with basic non force fed engines they are so close to their output limits in the first place unlike turbo or super charged engine that you can increase the air charge and keep adding petrol, as most turbo cars these days have a turbo tuned for emissions and not power hence why they react so well to a remap. we done a vauxhall the other day 2.0cdti 130bhp 2012 reg done dpf delete and egr went over the rollers 220bhp at front wheels at its peak but running so high would over load it and nail the gear box for sure, bit running at 180bhp the rest of the car will play nice with it,, r50 mini is same way the gearbox is made form chocolate so even added more power the driveline is already so weak, brings you back to better owning a more powerful car than trying to make yours go better, lost count the amount of gearboxes i have seen on r50 even new cars were dropping them after 10k or less in the early days.

Following on this thread.

I've researched around and noticed that there are people who tune R50 Coopers.

Things that are a definite to help:

- Intake

- Full Exhaust

- Definitely dropping some extra weight around maybe putting in lighter seats. (Not sure how race car you wanted to go).

- I believe you can drop a JCW Head inside for 10-15 HP extra

** I'm thinking about a turbo kit for mine once everything is installed properly. It may sound like an intense idea but it's been something I have been looking into for some time **

to turbo them you will need to run big injectors and a standalone map to get it all to play nice , the biggest issue is heat from the turbo and rear of baulk head, will end having a old type system where the waste gate works off pressure of turbine so laggy, many years a go i done a sierra xr4 4x4 with twin turbo technics was mental fast had some lag, easy way to spend a couple of grand on something that could easy go bang if over boost it, or catch fire if under protect it from heat,, done a few super charger jobbies best one was honda civic vtec type r that went really well no hassle with heat or lag etc, when turbo bi spoke stuff the exhaust is a challenge

I put a Bluefin, full Milltek exhaust, intake,
light SSR wheels, etc. into my old 2003 R50.
Later I had to swap the failed Midlands
transmission for a Getrag 6-speed
conversion with a Quaife LSD as the
Midlands is not all that reliable with
stock power and did not do well with
just 15-20 extra ponies.
If you have the CVT transmission in
your R50, your chances of surviving
any power upgrades are much worse.
