Hi there,

I have a 2003 Mini Cooper R50 Base Model that is going to have the engine pulled for some clutch work.

While the engine is out, what should be done around it? I'm looking to properly do everything and make sure it's in the best condition it could be when finished.

Anything from Gaskets/Seals, Parts to change/swap, really any ideas would be appreciated.

A thorough oil change and coolant flush will be completed as a good basis.

Thanks!

would do rear crank oil seal and gearbox input oil seal would also check state of oil in gearbox see how much metal is in it, might be due a rebuild if early midland gearbox. if any doubt in oil pressure crankshaft grind and bearings worth doing maybe a re ring at same time depends on how much money you want to sick in it, so may jobs are only possible when its all out the car

Thanks for the gearbox tip, I almost missed that.

I plan on having it looked over and changing the transmission fluid while there.

I probably won't end up doing anything other than around the engine itself.

It's at 153K miles, it's definitely time to replace things around it.
