Can anyone tell me if the right windscreen apron (black plastic at rear of bonnet and in front of windscreen) is supposed to have a drainage hole? I can see a hole and when it rains or I wash the car water just collects in the curve of the apron.

Yes theres a little slot just below where the wiper spindle emerges, (thats the nearside wiper on a RH drive car) the one with the spindle nearest the centre of the car.
The cover on the drivers side doesnt need a slot as the cover has a moulded channel there to stop water building up.
The slot can very easily get clogged with muck/leaves so poke it out with a small screwdriver or something similar
