Starting on a slope

Hi all,

I have a 2010 reg Clubman CooperD and recently have had a few issues where it's been slow to start up when I've been parked on even a minor slope.

Doesn't matter if I am parked facing uphill or downhill, or how much fuel is in the tank - First push of the start button it tries to tick over, but second push it takes a few seconds trying then starts okay.

I have a new battery in there and just been through MOT about a month ago. No warning lights on dash are evident.

Any ideas please?

Have you checked the glow plugs to see if they are working? I take it the car starts ok after the engine is warmed up?

Thought it might be the plugs, but because it was only happening on a slope I ruled them out as the first option. However, this morning it took 3 attempts from cold on a flat road to start.

I've got it booked in for service now as it was due soon anyway, so I'll get the guys to check it out.

Cheers.

For anyone interested it was the Glowplug control module in the end - only 30 pounds for the part.

Thanks for the feedback.
