Inspections are a con. It just means you pay them to find things wrong with you car so they can con you out of more cash. If the only thing they are changing is the pollen filter, that is easily done yourself. Save yourself well over a hundred dollars, and keep the receipts to show it has been done. Never skimp on oil and filter changes though, plus other filters, brake fluid every 2 years, cam belt etc, but try using an independent MINI specialist, if there is one in your area.
My parents car went in for some warranty work recently, and the dealer did a free inspection. Picked the car up and was greeted with the line, "would you like to book in now to resolve the issues we have found". £600 worth of stuff that didn't need doing. Brake pads that were only half worn, 2 tyres that were fine etc. Told them where to go.
If you can, take your car to an independent specialist.
There will be a way to turn off your service light. My countryman is the same, about 4 or 5 different service lights. My countryman needs an inspection now, and an oil change in 3 months time. Its just another excuse to get you in to the dealership so they can find more things wrong.
