Thank You BMW!

All I can say is IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!

I passed 91+K miles two weeks ago, been wanting another 6" in the back to trade up to, then had a VERY UNFORTUNATE meet-up with a bicyclist riding the wrong way down a four-lane street. Adjuster says US$4700 to fix.... Fine, I say, just GET ME OUT OF THIS STINKING MALIBU I'm driving 'till my white-over-yellow S is roadable again.

Any word on when these will be available over here??

Sorry about the crash. Bummer, man. I've already totalled one. Sad, but you get over it, especially if you buy a new one in a better color....

Too Bling.

Well, I've been looking at these pictures all afternoon, and it comes down to a couple of things:

Not a bad hood, nice wheels, but...

Too Bling.

Too Complicated (what happened to classic looks?).

Overly done.

Too many jewjaws.

Reminds me of The Disco Look of the 1970's, more show, less go. (Dated myself there, didn't I?)

I just like the fundamental design of the MINI now. Why gild the lily?

Of course, this is a show car. We'll see what makes it into production.....

There are some details that are kind of fussy and overdone, but I like the overall shape of it. It gives me a little hope for the next MINI. Let's hope they cut some of the bling.

Likes:
Headlights
One piece grille
Basic shape of the rear
rear tail pipes
"floating" front seats
2 spoke steering wheel
retantion of basic theme of interior

Dislikes
roof details
Cadillac Escalade size rear badge
hubcap looking wheels
chunk of chrome under the grille
That chunk of bling between the bonnet and the front door/A pillar
that "I-drive" joystick in the middle

The things I dislike are fixable. I could see myself in one of these. I wonder how much we could get for our 2004 Ford Explorer? I could be a 2 MINI family.

I like the lights, and the fact they are still "punched out" of the rear panels.

As far as I know the long wheelbase version will be first be released in late 2007, about a year after the new MINI is first launched.

This sporting look is further enhanced by the engine compartment lid hinged at the front, the wheel arches and radiator grille forming one homogeneous component without any seams or dividing lines in between. And like on a clas*sic sports car, the engine compartment lid swivels to the front and up*wards when opening, with only the headlights remaining in their original position.
a shape of things to come next year on the standard car?

Love the interior, Love the colour. Not very keen on the overall shape of the car. However, a very practical vehicle. I look forward to it's production.

Rear windows

I have enough problems with the lack of a wiper on my cabrio rear screen - how do you keep them clean in this split rear door configuration, I wonder?

Not here much any more
