What other cars use the same engine as the Dooper?

Hi All

Does anyone know what other cars use the same engine as the Dooper? I understand it's used by a few manufacturers.

I drove an S40 1.6D DRIVe last week which I THINK uses the same engine but it felt completely different. There seemed to be more turbo lag, and less power at higher revs, than in my Dooper. So do BMW tune the engine differently, or is it to do with gearing, or throttle mapping etc, or am I wrong?

Cheers!

Wouldn't an S40 be a lot heavier than a Mini? That would have quite an effect. (note: I have no idea how much either weigh!)

The Dooper engine is made by Peugeot/Citroen so you'll find it in C3,207 etc. Also Volvo use it in C30, S40 and S60.

Also used in Ford Fiesta, Focus and C Max in 2 different forms - 90BHP and 110BHP.

90BHP version will be used in the new MINI One D.

Been told it is used by Kia in the C'eed but not sure on that one....

c'eed 1.6D feels a very different engine, is 114BHP and fuel economy is worse than the Dooper (on same routes). Turbo is noisy on the c'eed whereas I've never noticed it at all in the Mini. Not that I'm trying to suggest it isn't thesameengine - I don't know for sure.

I am not convinced that the C'eed uses the same engine as the Ford/PSA engine but a colleague of mine in the office swears until he is blue in the face it is the same engine!

I'm not sure if the engine is used in the Mazda range?

c'eed only has a 5-speed box - would that make a difference to which engine it was?

Hi it makes no difference - the Ford and Volvo applications only use a 5 speed gearbox with this engine.

c'eed really needs a 6 speed box - the 5 speed one seems to be behind the poorer fuel consumption.

Even Peugeot 206! 1.6 HDi from 2004 and S80 DRIVe are the same engines as in the Dooper

After some research I would count:

Peugeot: 206, 207, 3008, 307, 308, 407, Partner II
Citroen: Berlingo (75 or 90 PS), C3, C3 Picasso, C4, C5 !!, new DS3
Ford: C-Max, Focus, Fusion (90 PS only), Fiesta (90PS only)
Volvo: C30, S40, V50, S80 DRIVe!! new S60 DRIVe??
Suzuki: SX4 (90 PS only)
Mazda: 3

From Wikipedia:
1.6 "Tiger"

The DLD-416 (or DV6) is a 1.6 L (1560 cc/95 cu in) 90hp or 110hp version also used by Ford, Mazda, Volvo, Mini, Peugeot and CitroŽn. This particular engine was designed by Peugeot[citation needed] engineers on behalf of PSA and Ford. Due to high demand, it is currently (2008) being produced in both France[citation needed] and England.
