Servicing/warranty valid?

Hi,

I am looking at buying a Cooper Diesel 2013, with 32k miles on it.

I've been told it had a service at 16k and is now showing that it needs another service. It's at a non mini car dealers, so I will check the service book but how do I know if the services have been done at the correct mileage/service intervals.

It was a lease car which they are selling, claiming that it has the remainder of the manufacturers warranty with it! (3 years/60,000miles)

Don't want to buy it only to find out the warranty is invalid due to it not having been serviced correctly.

Any help or advice on buying secondhand would be appreciated

Here in the US as long as a Certified Auto Shop has done the work the warranty is still intact. Ask for service records from who you buy and take them to dealer when servicing. All rental agencies here in the states have to keep maintenance records of the cars.

I think there is a service booklet, hence them being able to tell me it'd had a service at 16K.

But how do I know if it should have been serviced 5k ago. It's on 32K now so I'm guessing it might have needed a service a while ago?
