Question 2008 cooper D DPF warning light

Today I turned off the motorway and this DPF warning light came on. I drive 40 miles of motorway miles a day so surely it can't be blocked? Car has now done 75k.

Am I having to save up a 4 figure sum to be ready for the dealer's "The DPF unit needs to be replaced at £850+" talk??? I am fearing the worst!!!

Try looking for a garage that can remove the DPF and remap the software to ignore it. Lots cheaper.

If it is a diesel of Peugeot origin (pre-2011-ish?), it could be that the EOLYS fluid has run out. This is an additive that is pumped into the DPF to make it work. The 'tank' is not refillable and is more like a bladder - a new (full) one is fitted.

Thank you. I believe my Dooper is of Peugeot origin (w12 engine code I believe), I will drop the car into a garage near work to check out the eolys additive top up/replacement bladder.

I had the same problem. It wasn't the DPF this time. It was the EGR valve that was sticking and sadly the "EOLYS" fluid was also empty. It was just over £500 in total at the Dealer in Lincoln. The EGR fault caused a bit of rough running and occasional loss of power. As for the additive fluid - I didn't leave it too long after the light came on as the regeneration won't work. With no regeneration you will need a new DPF if you leave long enough!!

Dont go for the DPF delete option, as some companies proudly offer this service which is just about to be (or very soon) a legal MOT requirement. If it was fitted at the factory then it will still need to be present. A quick google of this will satisfy your curiosity.

Thank you all, it turned out to be a faulty glow plug and its error code stopping the DPF regen (apparently).
All is well now after a new glow plug and a new eolys bag refill.
Hope it helps someone who finds this post in the future.
