EGR and throttle body whine?

Hey all, after some advice about some odd noises coming from our cooper D.

Lost power at 1500rpm recently, and after some googling thought it was the EGR valve. Actually turned out to be a hole in the high pressure side of the turbo (compressor) hose going into the MAF/throttle body assembly - replacing the hose fixed the issue. Not sure if it's running on something but keeping an eye on it.

Whilst under the bonnet, noticed that for 20 seconds or so after the door has been opened both the throttle body assy (with the MAF sensor in it) and the EGR valve assy (top right of the air box) 'whine', then stop.

Is this normal behaviour after the car has been stopped? Worried the EGR is playing up and this is confusing everything.

Anyone elses make this noise?

Many thanks in advance,

B

yes mine does it, if you disconnect the boost pipe valves and the egr valve it stops doing it, normal,

Ok thanks mike - so I'm just looking for whatever wore through the boost pipe then! Much simpler (well, cheaper).

Cheers!
