CV axle shaft for a Mini One

Hi all, first post here.

Trying to fix my cv axle shafts. I have snapped boots and i want new axle shafts. I have a a/t Mini One 1.6 from 2006. I am trying to find out which axle shafts i need. Do i have the same axle shafts as a Cooper 06? The manual cv axle shafts seem easier to find. I have a RHD by the way but i guess they should be the same.

I have been searching a lot but i can not seem to find answers to my questions anywhere. If anyone could help me it would be gladly appreciated.

How do you snap a rubber boot? Don't you mean you have split boots? If so then replace the boots for a few quid rather than the entire shaft unless the cv joints are buggered. The different types will relate to the amount of splines on the shaft so count the splines and write the number down for reference

Look up the part numbers on BMW Parts Catalog for both models/years.
I think they take the same part but don't have time to look up myself - late for work.

Realoem (link above) shows the same part numbers for
2006 One and Cooper with auto transmission
31607574871 left, 31607574868 right.
Make sure you don't get one for a R53 MINI Cooper S, or
a manual transmission one or it won't fit.

So the CVT Mini One and Cooper has 23 splines.

31607518240, 129010, BM-8010, BM8323, 802058, 3335N, 66-9276, 60-9276, 411892 and 802058 are also part numbers for the right side CV shaft.

The left one's partnumbers are 3334N 31607574871, 10522, 3513, 411891, 951211, 129009, BW2265 and BM-8009. I get the best prices when searching the BM numbers.

Be careful with aftermarket axles. Several brands are crap - won't last very long.
The MINI brand ones are expensive (about 500 U$D each), but when you figure labour,
getting stuck with a broken one, and replacing off-brand cheaper ones several times,
the better ones are a better deal.

As Cristo says, hence why I'd recommend replacing the boot if this is all that needs replaced, plus it will save you an absolute fortune. Also factor in a Transmission oil change as your gonna loose oil when you pop the shafts out so its a perfect opportunity to change the oil while your at it!

I'm looking for the oil as we speak. I take it's the same as for the Cooper CVT? Fuchs Titan CVT or Febi CVT. Anybody has the part number for the filter?

I have bought the cheaper cv-axle shafts, lets hope i get lucky. I will keep the original ones just in case. Labour is no factor, doing the job myself.

I changed the engine mounts since they were all gone. Right side was easy, same as the Cooper underneath as well but the left mount is different. It can not be found in the USA because they don't have Mini One's over there. I have to get mine from the UK.

Brake rotors seem to be the same for both Mini One and Cooper. 276 mm that is.
