Blue/white smoke

Hi all. My mini has had a slight smoking issue and I’m not sure how long it’s been going on for...

It has recently had a new piston, all new rings, all new valves and valve stem oil seals and most of the leaks fixed for a nice big bill 🙈
I have a decat on the car but even with a sports cat I still noticed pale blue/ possibly white smoke 💨 out of the back.

It happens when I let go of the throttle for a couple of seconds and hit the Gas again, it’s just a big puff and then it starts to clear up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

would take it back to who ever done the rebuild with a argument not fit for purpose and they have given you a unfit to be on the road car back after spending a load of money, ie if smoking wont pass mot emissions test so not fit for purpose,,
it could be anything causing t so much can and does effect it, if turbo car would think about the water cooled cartridge is cracked if using coolant as well,, need to start with basics compression tests hot and cold and with and without engine oil added to it see if compression increases with oil if does it piston ring problem, if a lot of oil has gone in to exhaust before rebuild it will be near impossible to get it out of the cat this might effect it as do 02 sensors ie white smoking,, also oil type can make a difference i have heard complaints about castrol oil causing stuff don know how true this is.
could add a ultra violet dye to oil and see if can find clues to where its getting in,, ie run engine get it smoke then switch of and start striping it down, ie inlet manifold of exhaust manifold if turbo same thing and go find the dye with special light ultra violet light, link below

If this is happening every time you do this

"It happens when I let go of the throttle for a couple of seconds and hit the Gas again, it’s just a big puff and then it starts to clear up."

then something is wrong.

Is the car tuned and/or modified?

Good watch and read about exhaust colour smoke.

The car had a stage 2 remap with intercooler and iridium spark plugs. (And decat)

What was the problem you had before the rebuild?

A break on the piston land, I’m guessing from too much heat (lean mixture)

The car had new injectors so if it still smokes when they are calibrated I will bring it back up to the mechanic and hopefully get it finally sorted

If it still has the tune, maybe the tune isn't right.

Maybe get the tune looked at.
