Swap Seat is Coding Required (conflicting posts on this)

So I want to replace my basic cloth seats with leather sports seats on my 2010 R56. The question I have is will I need to goto BMW to have my ECUs re-coded.

I have searched the forum on this topic, but get conflicting answers, some say the new seat will just plug in fine, no coding

see: 348837-r56-seats-r57.html.

But one post suggested the ECUs need to be recoded by BMW and this costs £150.

see: 178225-fitting-leather-punch-front-seats.html.

Has anybody done this mod, can I simply plug in the new seats or is recoding necessary?

Sorry it won't let me post links!

I've done this and didn't need any recoding. Just made sure the connection fitment was the same on the underneath of the seat.

Hope that helps.

Disconnect your battery and wait at least 10 minutes to discharge. This will stop any airbag fault codes being thrown up. No coding required as above.
