Add Subwoofer to HK audio in R56

Hi all,

Looking for technical advice, searched the forum and canít find an answer so here goes:

2010 JCW with factory Harmon Kardon system. I decided to add a JL Mono amp and JL 12Ē Sub, used the high pass connection from the rear speaker terminals. Everything works but:

1) I have noticed the bass from the rear 6x9,s has stopped working - well they have gone very quiet and the punch of the original bass has gone - any ideas? Could the high pass connection be causing an issue? Someone suggested connecting the JL amp prior to the HK amp?

2) I have noticed that the sub has a really bad spike in the bass at a certain frequency, someone advised that the HK amp has a bass boost to help the original 6x9,s and this would cause the issue?

Really appreciate any advice from people who have done a similar install and maybe had the same issue?

Let me know

Good morning all 🙂

I was hopping someone might have replied 😕 Anyway going for taking the high pass connection prior to the HK amp, as that is what quite a few people have done.

However no one has provided a picture, diagram or anything to say which wires are what from the head unit to the HK amp!

Has anyone got the wiring Diagram from the head unit to the HK amp on a 2010 JCW? I just need to find out which wires are the speakers out from the head unit, so we can tap into those wires for the subwoofer feed 🙂

Hope someone can help, as I can’t find anything on this and lost some links from a few weeks ago ;(
