However, I would have thought renewing this would have been in the quote. Would you renew the chain but not the rocker gasket
?
its not a gasket its a rubber seal sat in a groove on rocker cover and 3 rubber round seals for plug holes

Would you not automatically renew it though Mike when fitting a chain kit?

no not normally unless its gone brittle or cracked or very hard clean it all off and use a tab of well seal on both sides of it they dont tend to leak

Thanks Mike. Hoping it's ready tomorrow. Once the rocker seal is changed, what is there on the back of the engine high up that can leak oil as it's still making a mess on my drive. Def coming down back of the engine

inlet vanos oil solenoid rubber seals leaking thats at top. also maybe the small plastic breather pipe that runs down to bottom of inlet manifold these pre 2010 crack for a past time, will need to undo inlet manifold to get at this one,
on the gearbox end rear of engine vvt motor maybe where meets the head.

Well it's not ready. It's running but throwing codes. When it had none.

Mike the vanos have also been replaced, does that mean the seals would be renewed also?

they come with new seals so you fitted new ones should not be there, where you fitted rocker cover on was seal used on each corner on passengers side where it raises for the vac pump etc, if not can get vac leak from these points and effect running,
what codes have you got after clearing it and running it a fresh

Hi Mike , he said when he ran it up it had the EML on, but sorted it. We have the car back now, it more responsive and eager than before.
Mechanic said that the tensioner came out in 3 parts. He showed me as well, also looked like someone had stretched the spring? Can't see why though as surely it runs off oil pressure?

So all good currently, going to get under it tommoro and give it all a good wipe down and try and see what's going on. When I last looked it was coming down the back of the block but the mech says it's coming down the front also. So I need to have s good look at it.

Been for an extended drive in the car today since camchain replaced. Wow it's so different, so much sweeter. It may have been an expensive bit of maintenance but hopefully with 5000 mile oil changes from now on hopefully it won't need doing again?

Just the oil leak to address now....oh and four new tyres....never stops does it

the prince engines are all the same they take a good 4 or 5 cold to hot runs over a few days to settle down again, on the 5 days worth running it up to 5k a couple of times when its hot and just gives the ecu chance to re learn the setting through all the rev band as such
