Damage to alloy wheel - help

Hi all.

Hoping someone can help here. Baisically my car is 7months old, and I'm the second owner. The previous owner managed to kerb three of the wheels, one is quite bad, the other two only light scuffing right on the edge of the rim.
I was at the MINI dealership the other day and the guy reckoned it would be about £65 a wheel. Now I know that there are plenty of other places which will do it, but these wheels are the 17" "polished" R99 MINI wheels, and I'm worried that a bodged repair could result in a mix of colour and make the situation even worse.

So, baisically, based on the (rather rubbish) pics below, is it worth getting it done, or should I just live with it and not risk making it worse?

An example of the light scuffing...

The particularly bad wheel....

A pic of the whole wheel...

Many thanks,
James

Yeh I was thinking that if MINI did it, then they should know what they are doing. But on the other hand £195 is ALOT of money!! :( I could be well on the way to some spots for that kind of money.

You would think so, but repairing alloys is a specialist job and most dealers don't actually do it themselves, they just get a specialist in to do them and then charge extra over the cost of the job to make some profit.

Get a specialist to do it and save yourself the profit your dealer will make.

If it was me I wouldn't waste my money to be honest. When you look at the picture of the whole wheel you hardly notice. Plus your probably get them fixed and kerb them the week after.

If I see a nice looking car, I can't say I'm particularly drawn to the alloys to see if they have been kerbed or not. Some people possibly are?

Just my opinion, but I can't understand people who don't look after / care about their alloys, even more so on a sports oriented car. If you had a scratch or dent on the bodywork it would be exactly the same. Personally I would not buy a second hand car with a kerbed alloy or without the dealer repairing it first.

Mint alloys makes a huge difference to the look of a car.
