Mini Cooper S R53
2yr complete rebuild project
Just completed a full engine out rebuild and full car restoration.
This car has been a project of mine over the last two years, I am a fully trained mechanic and bought this Mini to fully restore for my wife but now it’s finished she doesn’t like driving it and prefers to drive our 7 Series BMW.
The condition of this car is amazing considering it’s over 15yrs old, the paintwork is gleaming with no rust at all.
I bought this car as a non runner with several of the usual Mini issues over heating, cam chain etc but it turned out on stripping that the engine was not serviceable so I found a replacement from a crash damaged 65k miles car. Before fitting the replacement engine was completely stripped and check with any worn parts replaced, bearing in mind that I was building this car to keep for my wife to use.
Here is a list of what was done to the engine:
Compression tested pistons and rings checked
Big ends and crankshaft checked
Oil pump serviced
Both crankshaft oil seals replaced
Head checked de coked, rebuilt with new valve stem seals and gaskets
New timing chain and tensioner
Engine flushed with correct flushing oil and filter, drained new oil and filter fitted
Full turbo check and service with new oils
New spark plugs
New clutch/pressure plate and thrust race bearing
Gearbox oil flush and new oil
New wheel bearings
New air filters
And probably loads more that I have forgot to mention.
The car has also had in the last few hundred miles new suspension parts including drop links and bushes, also had new front to back offside brake line fitted. All brakes checked and serviced and it has a new mot.
This is the best totally standard and un molested Mini Cooper S with immaculate unmarked Tan/Black leather that you will find and is fast becoming a classic that are going up in value, everything that needs doing on this car has been done.
