05' R50 battery discharging

So interestingly enough my R50 lost power steering a few months ago but I just kept driving it. No issues minus occasionally a EVAP minor or cylinder 1 misfire code gets thrown.
Today I pulled into a parking spot, felt my steering wheel loosen and when I backed out (the car never stopped running) my power steering was working. About 10 minutes later my battery started discharging.

I think my serpentine belt is loose and it's not providing enough power to the alternator to charge the battery. Maybe my alternator started dying between the time my power steering pump went out and eventually started working, this increasing the load the alternator needs to charge the battery?

Anyone have any ideas? Gonna go get the battery tested now. Car is still starting, worried how many starts the battery has left. Autozone can do a charge though.

or power steering pump is nearly a dead short and puling more power from battery than the charge circuit can handle is very common when steering pump fails ,, also can destroy the battery as well

Based on this and what I learned at advanced auto, it's probably one of three things. My ABS is still running and whining after I kill nthe car, maybe that is draining the battery. Maybe there is a short in the power steering pump or the excess load of a now functioning pump is too much for a dying alternator. My alternator measured at like 14.01 while the vehicle was running. Finally that could be caused by a loose serpentine belt not the alternator itself being faulty.

guess you already know what you need to do
Here's a picture of you engine compartment fusebox as per the manual
fuse F8 is your engine compartment fuse for the electric power steering. It's a 30A fuse
Font Technology Gadget Machine Parallel

Here's a picture of you passenger side fusebox your alternator, electric power steering fuse is F39. It's a 5A fuse
Grey Font Rectangle Electronic device Electric blue

As well as a list of your ground connection locations on your car. Not that it is that important unless you might of been in one of those area's possibly servicing something.

I would check those fuses and see what's up you might be able to unplug the power steering fuse for the time being.
Here's a place to render a alternator rebuild kit for your alternator if you want. Double that up with going to that parts stores and asking if they have a bearing pull press kit available for rent. and just rebuild you alternator.
Here's the 105 amp alternator
and here's for the 120amp alternator rebuild kit.
If it is your alternator and you don't want to pay for a whole new one.

most parts store rent those for free with a deposit, but in all likely hood they don't have perfect sizes in which case you might be able to find something around your house that may fit or at a local hardware store to do the bearing extraction.
here's a example:

Pulled those fuses and I still have power steering. Battery light is still on and I think I can hear my ABS pump continuing to run after the car is stopped. I tried pulling that fuse but whatever the noise is, it won't stop unless I disconnect the battery. Sounds like an electrical whine.
As someone that has been on this forum actively sense October or so. Reading the threads I do know that those R50 and R53 have been know to have battery dead situations associated with power steering. And or power steering issues that are associated with electrical problems. NOW the is probably about 5 people that share classic type symptoms if you want to count electrical problems and battery problems as the same. Maybe 1 other person that has a battery problem the others electrical issues. They Say in there problems in almost all of them somewhere in there threads mention the Electric fan for the power steering, but also mention somewhere to change the power steering pump out when you do that. And as to what actually solves there problems in the end none have mentioned any of it.
One of the last people in the thread that had a problem there abouts is this Mini Cooper member.
That I can think of.
Mystery flat battery (working fine) heavy steering now 😭

If you locating the sound coming from the ABS unit
Then that would probably be the item that needs to be replaced. or at least a good starting point.
