I just purchased a 2003 Mini Cooper that has around 110,000 miles. The person I purchased it from said she heard the car make a loud noise almost like she hit a rock and the car immediately lost acceleration. She pulled over to see if their was any damage. Their was none. She decided to see if the car would make it home which was another hour drive and it did without an issue almost like it was a hiccup. It starts perfectly fine with no rattling or sounds of a broken chain and goes into gears but just won’t move. I’m not sure what to do. I took it to a authorized mechanic and he told me I would need to replace the CVT which was quoted at $6,000. Has anyone else experienced the same issue or know what might have gone wrong? It won’t move forward in drive or reverse but will go into gear.
