638 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  mike1967
just bought a cooper 2005, Its a bit of a struggle getting into reverse but even harder trying to get out of it, the gear stick almost seems stuck. Also when driving there is a grinding sound passenger front not sure if its connected.

Anyone had this and fixed it.

cheers john

clutch worn
flywheel centre bearing on way out
slave or master cylinder not throwing each other correctly, maybe a bleed with new fluid might help and rule it out,
being 2005 it should have the better gearbox in it, but any gearbox can fail or been run on low oil maybe,
or the linkage on gearbox or cables and gear stick assembly any of these,, but the grinding might be the clue, or that grinding might be a wheel bearing or brake pads low or dust shield bent in to disc,,
i've repaired all these faults over the years and more, worth you getting it diagnosed by a garage then work what to do next on it i would think.
