Hey guys,
New to this forum, i hope someone can help!
I have a Mini Cooper Park Lane 2006 (1.6) on 112k miles, purchased it around March and have had a couple of problems. First my exhaust pretty much fell off which I had replaced.
I also have an Oil leak which is quite hard to locate, but i am regularly topping up on oil in the meantime until i can pay someone to have a look.

Also, as of recently my car has started making quite a high pitched sound along with the engine running, i will post a link below, does anyone know what this could be? I'm fearing timing chain but I'm not sure if/when it has been replaced previously.

its 2006 its gen 1 tritec engine dont suffer with chain problems but do suffer from tensioer problems its sounds like it could be that making that noise,,
one thing worth doing is putting foot on clutch pedal see if that effects the noise if it does then its within the clutch or gearbox area.
below link tension'r if its that

one other thing might be is the alternator free wheel pulley, link below

Okay great, thanks for your help!
I bought a tensioner and I'm hopefully having it fitted this week. Is it safe for the time being to drive? It drives fine, just loud!
its always a gamble to keep driving any car with noise from engine without knowing what it really is and how far gone it is
