2007 Cooper s panoramic sunroof

Hi again second post of the day 😂
I’ve a panoramic sunroof on my 2007 Cooper s r56 which won’t shut, press the button to open and the front goes back and back part lifts slightly, if I press to close it closes the opens again slightly.
It appears the wind deflector the bit that pops up is missing aswell could this cause issues or not ?
the rear panel is sitting slightly wonky from the back ?
move read loads of post on this seems to be very common, I’ve tried to manually close with the Allen key but it just spins (rounded off) I’m not bithetef at the moment if it works just need to shut it as it’s outside 🤦‍♂️

Hello, I also have a panoramic sunroof. Absolute waste of money. First time it failed Mini Cooper in Reading finally replaced it under warranty. The second time it failed with the same fault but no warranty this time as it had run out.
apparantly there is a design fault. I was told this by a Mini garage mechanic, who wishes not to be named.
BMW told me I would have to buy one.No thank you I said.
I drive the car with the sunroof permanently closed.
Sorry, I cannot help with your issue, but just beware.

Fault was the sunroof opened but did not close.
I have given up now. BMW as far as I am concerned are crooks.
The sunroof now has a very minor leak every time it rains. I will get some sealant and apply it to the opening seals.

well ended up buying a complete sunroof for £420 local to me, which should have been an hour to fit, doesn’t work, spent a whole day plus another £200 to close the roof by hand and leave it at that 😡😡 absolutely fuming!!!! Motors disconnected and never to be touched again what a nightmare

I fully understand your feeling. A complete design issue that BMW will not own up to.
